1 - had a conversation with a former starbucks customer of mine that wants to come out to church because he feels the need for something spiritual in his life.
2 - had a conversation with a new friend who came to The [...]

Last spring we had Jake Myers at The Well as an intern from PTS. We had a great time learning from Jake and we were sad to see him go but excited about his dreams of planting a church in Atlanta called “trinitos.”
Today, Jake wrote an update on his blog about how things [...]

“I couldn’t put my finger on it, but something just didn’t seem right…”
“I’m not sure what it was, but something was just off…”
These are two statements that I have heard or read numerous times. Usually, on a blog or in its comments, the person is referring to their first impression or opinion of a book, [...]

A little taste of SoHo…

One of the many good discussions we have had in my family has the question: “what is the gospel.” This question has stemmed out of the fact that the gospel we typically preach seems to be somewhat incomplete (meaning, we often focus on certain parts of the good news at the expense of other [...]

BJ Woodworth, a pastor in Pittsburgh, has some interesting thoughts on Christmas and gift giving…
My daughter Kyra asked me yesterday where gift giving comes from. Katrina (way wife) told her it stems from the shepherds and the wise men bringing gifts to Jesus, Mary and Joseph. True enough. Secondly gift giving comes from St. Nicholas [...]

Ryan Bloger wrote a great blog entry called “Missionaries Get the Emerging Church” that i think is worth a read. Its my opinion (and not original with me by of course) that churches in America need to take a missionary stance to effectively have any impact on our communities and expect to see [...]

It’s this kind of story that makes my heart very, very heavy. Especially as a father, I just can’t imagine the pain.

This is from a great article by Dwight Friesen called “Why I am Not Missional”
Here is an excerpt:
