A Prayer.

Originaly Posted on April 23, 2006

God, almighty and everlasting Father, you have brought me in safety to this new day: Preserve me with your mighty power, that I may not fall into sin, nor be overcome by adversity; and in all I do direct me to the fulfilling of your purpose; through Jesus Christ my Lord. Amen.

Psalm 33:12-22

Originaly Posted on April 21, 2006

Blessed is the nation whose God is the Lord,
the people he chose for his inheritance.

and sees all humankind;
from his dwelling place he watches
all who live on earth—
he who forms the hearts of all,
who considers everything they do.
No king is saved by the size of his army;
no warrior escapes by his [...]

I wonder if we really want that. I wonder if we are really ready to want that.  I wonder, I just wonder, if most of us have really seen this as the goal of [...]

On the resurrection

Originaly Posted on April 13, 2006

“The historical foundation for this is Christ, or - to be more exact - Christ’s resurrection from the dead.  It is from Christ’s resurrection that the Spirit proceeds -the Spirit who renews and gives birth to new life, and who lays hold of us in faith. For the forgiveness of sins, we are pointed to [...]

Organs and Beer?

Originaly Posted on April 10, 2006

From Alan Roxburgh’s book “The Sky is Falling” (which i HIGHLY suggest you purchase and read):
“Luther brought the organ into his congregations because it was the instrument university students used in the beer halls to sing their songs.  Luther wanted to communicate the gospel to these students so he brought their instrument into the church [...]

Jesus Loves Me.

Originaly Posted on April 8, 2006

I wrote this for the message i preached this sunday. The text was John 4.
Jesus loves me.
This I know.
For the Bible tells me so.
Jesus loves me.
I think I know.
But the Bible does tell me so.
Jesus loves me?
Wait. I am not quite so sure I know.
But, I guess the Bible tells me so.
Jesus loves me…
To be [...]
