A Prayerless Church?
One of the books I am reading about prayer is by the late Stanley Grenz called, “Prayer The Cry for the Kingdom.” I am only about 36 pages into it so far (I started reading today) and I can already say that is going to be worth the time.
Grenz says something that is a great addition to my post yesterday, he writes,
my claim that prayer is our greatest challenge arises from an honest appraisal of the state of the church today. If we look closely at the contemporary situation, we would likely find ourselves readily admitting that ours is the epitome of a prayerless church.

Hey bro, I just happened upon your site, through a Google search with the following keywords, “prayerless preaching, prayerlessness, etc…” At the start of the new year, I have been re-reading E.M. Bounds, “The Power through Prayer.” He says, “. . . every preacher who does not make prayer a mighty factor in his own life and ministry is weak as a factor in God’s work and is powerless to project God’s cause in this world.” Bro, I love your missionary (local & non-local) focus! Let’s be sure to undergird our life’s mission with prayerful praying, life-creating preaching, thus bringing the mightiest force to bear on heaven and earth drawing from the Well God’s exhaustless, open treasure for the need and beggary of man!!!
Todd, God bless you and your family this new year 2007
