Cole’s Graduation from Preschool

Cole Getting ready to graduateThis morning I took off from work for a few hours to go to my 4 year old son’s graduation from preschool.  At first I found it funny that we had a big ordeal for this event.  But as I was talking to my wife I realized that this is a pretty big deal.  Our son starts kindergarten in the fall.  He’ll be going to school everyday of the week for the next 12 years.  That’s nuts.  He’ll be out of our hands and out of our control for more hours a day than ever.  Sure, he was out of our hands in preschool, but his preschool was a pretty safe place.

Wow, this should be interesting…

After four years I have to say I am so proud of this kid. He’s really amazing.  He has such a gentle, compassionate heart.  He is such a great big brother and, most importantly, a HUGE Cubs fan.  The other day he was woke up around 11:00pm to ask me who won the Cubs game.  I told him the Astros did. He proceeded to cry.  Uh oh.  Its going to be a long life for him!

Enjoy the journey, Todd. In a couple weeks my youngest graduates from high school. We cried when they first went to school and I suppose we’ll cry at her graduation. To be honest, however. we’re looking forward to being empty nesters, but we’re trying to hide our enthusiasm from her.

And what’s all this about the Cubs? Go Brewers! Go Padres! I’m so miserable right now. :(

True Cubs fans have to learn how to cry a lot don’t they?

Enjoy the next twelve years. The ride will be over before you know it and it will be time to get off that roller coaster and on to another one.
