Part of the essence of being a follower of Christ is to be counter-cultural like Christ was in His time on earth. Well, this afternoon I found my new means of being “counter-cultural.” Christmas shopping driving. Crazy! My wife, 5 mo. old son and I just spent 30 minutes trying to get out of a shopping mall parking lot. There were cars everywhere sticking their front ends in and pushing their way into places in line to get out of there…it was nuts. It is definately an “every-man-for-himself” attitude. The guy behind us rode our rear as to make sure absolutely no one could squeeze in between us…I made a decision right there that for me, at that moment at least, being a so-called “Christ-follower” meant even serving people in a jam-packed parking lot on a Christmas shopping Saturday afternoon…
