I just had a good example of this happen today. There’s a guy in our new missional startup who wasn’t at the gathering last Sunday night, at which there was a critical discussion about how we’ll commit to each other as a community.

One of the things I do is use our website (and my blog to a lesser extent) to keep people connected when they can’t make it. Very practical.

But.

The stuff we discussed last Sunday really can’t be effectively communicated online. It’s too important, and too vulnerable. I’m asking people to take a risk of time, emotions, energy, and money. This really needs to happen face to face. So, we had breakfast this morning and talked it through over eggs and hash browns. We also talked about his business and some challenges he’s facing. We talked about our families and cracked jokes. It was great.

And I was reminded that *heart* is difficult to impart across pixels.
