Todd, that's real hard to tell...one of my frustrations so far as I move into my second year in the pastorate is that I haven't experienced significant dialogue about my sermons.

However, I will say based on the comments that I did receive and the particular people they came from, that the sermons struck quite a chord with a few of the folks here.

Yeah, it's a difficult balance. I tried to address that some this summer with a sermon series on the Psalms. My intention was to help people realize that it's okay to express their grief and frustration, (the psalms even gives us the language and permission to do so.) There is a time and place for personal and corporate lament over a world and lives that are broken.

Along with this the eschatological dimension of the Psalms help us to put our hope and trust in God who one day will make it all right. They invite us to join with and to side with God in that work.
