Not the Way its Supposed to Be.

Some things aren’t appropriate to blog about in detail. But, tomorrow night (Thursday) I will be leading a memorial service for a 26 year old young man named Phil who committed suicide early Tuesday morning. I did not know Phil or most of his family. But, his brother and his brother’s wife went to our church for a while so that is where we have our connection.

If you think of it, please pray for the family as they deal with and process this tragedy. Also, pray for me and our those in our church who are doing our best to care for this family.

Someone recently asked me how we can believe in a God who lets this kind of thing happen. My response is to look at this a different way. I am thankful that we have a God who has decided to do something about stuff like this…

I think some of the best hope we have is that in Jesus Christ, God is making all things new. Here, now and in the future. That one day, as my brother says, the earth will be young again. One day, God will fully dwell with man, we will be His people and He will be our God and there will be no more mourning, or crying or pain or death. Heaven will come to earth and this world will be restored to how it was originally intended to be (Revelation 21).

Death isn’t normal. This isn’t the way it’s supposed to be.

Thank God that, through Jesus, it will all be made new.

Praying is the only thing I can do. Consider it done, having lost a family member this way, prayer was the only thing that got me through.
