Todd, you're definitely not alone. It's so easy for Church busyness to squeeze out our relationship with God. That's true for any of us, not just pastors, but the expectations on pastors make it much harder. Hang in there! Thanks for naming this, and urging us back to the disciplines. I like how Luther once said it: "I'm too busy not to pray."

I am humbled by your honesty Todd. I have a really shitty prayer and scripture reading life right now and my spiritual direction might be closely compared to the water in a toliet bowl flushing down into a world of crap. I confess this because I don't want you to feel alone and because when you confessed it it made me feel better about my church leadership and myself. This is why I take breaks from liturgy team, when I feel incompetent, I don't know how you do it, you just CAN'T take a break EVER. Well I guess you could but you know what I mean.

Please Todd, don't let these just be words on a screen, mean them, be shaped by them and live them fully.

Todd,

I have to agree with you. There has been too much talking and not enough 'walking' going on. I figure the first place we are called to go to is God, Himself and ask for His leading. Remember Galatians 5:18 - "But if you are led by the Spirit, you are no longer bound to the law." Maybe we need to see how God is leading and then we will know the path we are called to follow.

Thank you for showing your genuine transparency. God bless bro -

Glad I am on this journey with you, buddy.

So grateful that together we're asking the most difficult - and the most meaningful - questions we could ask in ministry.
