The Pearl of Great Price…

July 29, 2005

Reflecting this morning on the following section of Matthew…

“The kingdom of heaven is like treasure hidden in a field. When a man found it, he hid it again, and then in his joy went and sold all he had and bought that field.

“Again, the kingdom of heaven is like a merchant looking for fine pearls. When he found one of great value, he went away and sold everything he had and bought it.

We carry a message that is really worth selling it all for. Three thoughts:
1) Is the story we tell really one that is this compelling (or do we screw it up and somehow allow it to lose it power?)
2) Do you (I) really view life in the kingdom this way? Have you really sold it all for the sake of the kindgom?
3) Are you presenting to and showing your friends, neighbors and co-workers a life that is worth selling it all for?

This passage has always challanged me….Are there better questions to be asking? Am i missing something? What do you think?
