Adoption Trip #1: And We’re Off!

1

The trip has begun. Melanie and I will be on the road in 15 minutes (10:00 am Eastern Time).

Hopefully we’ll find some internet access along the way or when we get there and update you on things…

Todd, I have Google give me updates on anything related to Guatemala and came across your site.
As a new (4 months now) father of Christian (You can see more about him on our site) I cannot tell you how exciting this is. Once you get home, if you stay in touch with other families in the process when you hear about their ‘Pickup’ date, you will instantly re-live that amazing experience! It Rocks.
I will caution you to ensure you have a bunch of extra passport sized photos for your Embassy visit. I found that no one told me of that and our translator (family friend) grabbed up Christian and RAN down to a minute photo place joint about 2 blocks away. At the time I was psyched that she hauled out and back for us but in hind-sight would have had a heart attack if she wasn’t such a close friend.
Second, be sure your people (attorney) have the last Dr. visit in a folder. You will have a folder given to you that you are NOT allowed to open. Then, once you are done at the Embassy you will be given another folder that you won’t be allowed to open that you need to take with you to get your son in the country.
I have heard of a few families recently who have had problems with the Dr. thing which is why I mentioned it…..
