We had our first art show at The Well last night. There were about 12 artists (wire art, metal art, painting, photography, marker art and a few other “mediums”). It was a really neat night to meet some new people in our community and continue some new friendships.

I was able to meet up with a couple new friends at the show who are from my area who have bought a bus and they are turning it into a mobile soup kitchen. It’s really a neat idea because they have a community down in West Phila where they have established quite a good friendship with. So, they go down there pretty often and clean up, hang out with them, serve them food (and eat with them which i think is really cool) and they have taken an empty plot of land and turned it into a garden where they are helping the people grow food. They are looking to using our space to do a benefit concert for their soup kitchen/bus renovations. So, we’re helping them with that and our neighborhood group is looking forward to heading down the west phila with them when the weather gets warmer and getting our hands dirty a little bit. One of the ironic things i think with this whole opportunity is that it is not the church leading this little thing, its a few people with a heart for those who are in need who leading the way, and we are following along with them…i am excited for this opportunity what a great chance to be for the world what Jesus was for the world…
