I’ve been really absent to my blog lately (except for a few easy quotes i threw up to keep my three people who read this blog happy). There has been good reason for that! The last few months have been madness for me, my family and my church community.

I’ve posted before that we have signed a new lease at church on a new building. It is an old industrial building that we are converting into a coffee house/concert venue/community center/worship facility (you can read about our vision here. Well, needless to say we have been putting in a TON of time at the building on getting it ready to function. You can follow the renovations here.

On top of that, i have been spending a lot of time (along with a group of 5 of our lay-leaders) taking a hard look at the strengths and weaknesses of our church. Its been a humbling process of seeing where we basically stink at a church but it has also been encouraging to see where we are thriving. The task our group has is to address these weaknesses as best as possible and then accentuate our strengths as best as possible. Needless to say this is a huge undertaking and a very big task.

On top of that, i’ve been spending my typical 30 hours a week at starbucks (working, not just hanging out!) and most importantly spending time with my wife and son…

I keep on telling myself that this is a season. i look forward to the day when this starbucks gig is up…of course, then i will be challanged not to sit in my stupid little world of church and find ways to get myself in the midst of the community – which, if our vision as a church is close to being met, will naturally happen…

anyways…its been a great few months…

Today was our first service in the new building. It was fantastic.
