Preferred iPhone (if you have it)
- Best option: iPhone 12 Pro or newer Pro model (12 Pro, 13 Pro, 14 Pro, 15 Pro, 16 Pro, 17 Pro)
- These can shoot RAW (Apple ProRAW), which gives us more flexibility when editing.
- If you have a Pro model, follow these instructions to enable Apple ProRAW.
- If you don’t have a Pro model, that’s okay. Follow the steps below anyway.
Before You Shoot
- Clean your camera lens! You can use a T-shirt or a soft cloth. Just get those fingerprints off there!
- Turn OFF Portrait Mode
- Turn OFF flash
- Use the rear camera, not the selfie camera, and have someone else take the photo for you
Lighting (most important part)
- Stand facing a window
- Do not stand with the window behind you
Background
- Stand in front of a plain wall (light colored wall is best)
- Stay a few feet away from the wall if possible, so as not to create shadows
Framing
- Phone should be at eye level
- Frame from mid-chest to just above the head
- Leave a little space above your head, don’t crop it tight
Final Notes
- Take 5–10 photos, not just one, the photographer will choose the best option.
- Send the original files, do not edit or filter them, the photographer will edit them to match the rest of our photos
- Do not use screenshots or messaging apps that compress images
